Calyptocarpus vialis aka Creeping Cinderella Weed

Calyptocarpus vialis, also known as straggler daisy, horseherb, lawnflower, and creeping Cinderella-weed, is a species of flowering plant in the Asteraceae family. It is native to south Texas, Mexico, Belize, Venezuela, and the Caribbean, but has been introduced to several other regions including Argentina, Hawaii, India, Java, Australia, and Taiwan. This shade tolerant groundcover is typically found in woodlands, meadows, and disturbed sites such as lawns, roadsides, and paths. The opposite leaves are triangular to lanceolate in shape and typically 1-3 cm long. The plant produces yellow flowers year-round, with around 10-20 disc florets and 3-8 ray florets, the laminae of the latter being around 2-5 mm long. The nectar from these flowers attracts small butterflies. Although considered a weedy species, horseherb is valued for its ability to prevent soil erosion and is used as a groundcover in some areas. However, it is also considered invasive in eastern Asia and Africa and in India.
