Cypripedium calceolus aka Lady's Slipper

Cypripedium calceolus, also known as the lady's-slipper orchid, is a terrestrial orchid and the type species of the Cypripedium genus. Native to Europe and Asia, this rare houseplant has soft, folded bright green leaves measuring 5-20cm in length. During summer, it produces stunning purple-brown flowers with twisted petals and large, deep yellow lips, reaching a length of 9cm. These flowers can be found either singly or in pairs, adorning upright stems that can grow up to 40cm in height. To thrive, the lady's-slipper orchid requires regular watering and abundant sunlight, preferably within 3 feet of a window. It thrives best in well-draining soil.
