Graptopetalum paraguayense aka Ghostplant

Ghost plant is listed by the ASPCA as non-toxic to dogs, cats, and horses. No culinary use has been documented in available sources, and no edibility rating is established.

Ghost plant is a low, spreading succulent typically reaching 15–20 cm (6–8 in) in height and spreading 60–90 cm (2–3 ft) wide. Individual rosettes measure 8–15 cm (3–6 in) across. Stems elongate over time and can trail up to 2 m, making the plant well-suited to hanging baskets and cascading over walls.

Ghost plant tolerates temperatures down to approximately −10 °C (14 °F), though in temperate climates it should be sheltered from rain and excess humidity. NCSU rates it for USDA zones 9a–11b, with cold protection advised below −9 °C (15 °F).

Ghost plant propagates readily from individual leaves or stem cuttings — simply allow the cut end to callous for a day or two before placing on or in well-drained soil. Division of clumps is also straightforward. Leaf propagation is especially easy as leaves detach naturally from the rosette and can root where they fall.

Ghost plant produces star-shaped, 5-petalled white flowers with red spotting in spring. Crassulaceae are typically pollinated by insects. No specific pollinator data was found in available sources.

Several named forms are in cultivation: f. variegatum displays pastel tones of pink, purple, yellow, blue, green, and silver; 'Peach' has silvery-white, peach, and pink foliage; 'Purple Haze' is a hybrid with gray to lavender coloring.

Ghost plant requires minimal pruning. Leggy or trailing stems can be trimmed back to encourage a bushier rosette form. Removed stem segments root easily and can be used for propagation.

Ghost plant has no significant pest or disease problems under normal conditions. In humid or poorly ventilated settings, watch for aphids, mealybugs, and vine weevil. Root rot can occur in poorly drained or waterlogged soil.
