Campanulorchis is a small genus of orchids in the family Orchidaceae, placed in the order Asparagales. The genus was described by Brieger and published in Rudolf Schlechter's Orchideen: Beschreibung, Kultur und Züchtung (3rd ed., 1981). It was formerly treated as a synonym of the large genus Eria, but taxonomic revision has since restored it as an accepted, distinct genus, per GBIF's backbone taxonomy.
The genus comprises around six recognized species, including Campanulorchis globifera, C. longipes, and C. thao. Members are native to Southeast Asia, with a distribution spanning from Hainan Island in southern China to New Guinea, and encompassing Vietnam, Thailand, Borneo, Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Sulawesi, and the Maluku Islands. As with other members of the former Eria alliance, species in this genus are epiphytic orchids of tropical and subtropical forest habitats within this range.
Distribution
Native to Southeast Asia, with species recorded from Hainan (China) south and east through Vietnam, Thailand, Borneo, Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Sulawesi, the Maluku Islands, and New Guinea.
