Kindbergia is a genus of mosses in the family Brachytheciaceae, order Hypnales, within the phylum Bryophyta. The genus was first described by the Polish bryologist Ryszard Ochyra in 1982. It is named in honour of Nils Conrad Kindberg (1832–1910), a Swedish bryologist who made significant contributions to the study of mosses.
Species in the genus are mat-forming and grow to a medium to large size. Leaves are borne on creeping, branching stems and are regularly pinnate in arrangement. Kindbergia has a cosmopolitan distribution, with species recorded across multiple continents including North America, Africa, Asia, and Australasia.
Well-known members include Kindbergia praelonga, a widespread moss found across temperate regions of Europe, North America, and beyond, and Kindbergia oregana (Oregon beaked moss), native to western North America.
