Astrantia minor aka Lesser Masterwort

Astrantia minor, also known as the lesser masterwort, is a clump-forming herbaceous perennial that is native to various countries in Europe including France, Italy, Spain, and Switzerland. This flowering plant typically grows to a height of 15-30 cm and has simple stems, occasionally branching in the upper half. The basal leaves of Astrantia minor come in two distinct types, often found on the same plant. One type has narrow segments that are all pinnatisect, while the other type has broad segments, with the central segment being pinnatisect and the lateral segments. In the summer, this plant produces small white to pale pink flowerheads that are around 2 cm in diameter. These flowerheads are borne either singly or in groups of two or three on slender stems. Overall, Astrantia minor is a beautiful and versatile perennial that adds charm to any garden.
