Bunchosia argentea aka Peanut Butter Tree

Bunchosia argentea is an evergreen shrub or small tree. It belongs to the Malpighiaceae family. Its native range runs from Costa Rica to Brazil. Common names include ciruelo, ciruela verde, and peanut butter fruit. Another name is ciruela del monte. It grows in tropical regions with a dry season. Wild plants also grow in moist sites within this range.

The plant grows beneath taller trees in coastal limestone forests. It also grows on dry, rocky ground in open lowlands. Its growth rate is moderate.
