Corydalis solida, also known as fumewort or bird-in-a-bush, is a beautiful spring ephemeral plant that belongs to the Papaveraceae family. It can be found in moist and shady habitats in northern Europe and Asia, and grows up to 25 cm (10 in) tall. The plant has deeply divided, ferny leaves that appear in spring and die down in summer, revealing its tuberous rootstock. The flowers of Corydalis solida are narrow, long-spurred, and show color variation, ranging from mauve, purple, red, to white. They grow in clusters of up to 20 flowers and are tube-shaped, purplish red, and 1" long. The foliage of the plant resembles that of bleeding heart (Dicentra), which is in the same family. Corydalis solida is an easy-to-grow plant that needs regular watering and prefers long-lasting, direct light. It is a super rare houseplant that is native to Central and Western Asia and Europe.
