Forsythia viridissima aka Greenstem Forsythia

Forsythia viridissima, also known as Chinese golden bell tree, green-stemmed forsythia, greenstem forsythia, or Korean forsythia, is a deciduous shrub that belongs to the Forsythia genus in the Oleaceae family. It is native to southern China and South Korea but has been introduced to Japan and the United States. The plant grows up to 10 feet tall and has elliptic-oblong to lanceolate leaves that are toothed above the middle. It blooms in early spring with yellow-green flowers that are about 1 inch long. Forsythia viridissima is one of the 11 species of woody shrubs in the Forsythia genus that bear bold yellow flowers in early spring. It is believed to be of hybrid origin and is considered one of the parents of Forsythia × intermedia. The best time to prune this plant is after it has bloomed, and it can be rejuvenated by cutting it to the ground every few years. The genus name Forsythia honors William Forsyth, a Scottish superintendent of the Royal Gardens of Kensington Palace, while the specific epithet viridissima means very green.
