Bonplandia is a small genus of flowering plants in the family Polemoniaceae, the phlox family, placed within the order Ericales. The genus is native to Mexico and Guatemala and contains only two known species: Bonplandia geminiflora Cav. and Bonplandia linearis B.L.Rob. As a member of Polemoniaceae, the genus shares the family's characteristic tubular or funnel-shaped flowers and is closely allied with familiar ornamental genera such as Phlox and Polemonium. The genus is small and geographically restricted, making it of interest primarily in the context of Mesoamerican plant diversity rather than as a widely cultivated or economically significant group.

Distribution

Bonplandia is native to Mexico and Guatemala. Its range is restricted to Mesoamerica, placing it among the regionally endemic members of the family Polemoniaceae.

Taxonomy Notes

Bonplandia is placed in the family Polemoniaceae (order Ericales, class Magnoliopsida). GBIF recognises one accepted species descendant under this genus. The two named species are Bonplandia geminiflora Cav. and Bonplandia linearis B.L.Rob.
