Cosentinia is a genus of ferns in the family Pteridaceae, placed in subfamily Pteridoideae and order Polypodiales (class Polypodiopsida). The genus is monotypic, comprising a single species, Cosentinia vellea, sometimes further split by the Checklist of Ferns and Lycophytes of the World into an autonym subsp. vellea, subsp. bivalens, and the hybrid subsp. ×rivas-martinezii (as recognized as of December 2019).
The genus has a wide native distribution stretching from the Canary Islands through continental Europe and northern Africa, across Western Asia, to the western Himalayas in the Indian subcontinent. GBIF's taxonomic backbone confirms the family and order placement and lists no additional accepted species beyond C. vellea, consistent with the genus being monotypic.
