Taxonomy ID: 9114
Chamaenerion angustifolium, also known as fireweed, great willowherb, or rosebay willowherb, is a perennial herbaceous flowering plant belonging to the Onagraceae family. Native to the temperate Northern Hemisphere, including boreal forests, this plant is characterized by its tall spires of flowers. In North America, it is referred to as fireweed, while in parts of Canada it is known as great willowherb. In Britain and Ireland, it goes by the name rosebay willowherb and also has the nickname bombweed due to its quick growth on bomb sites during World War II. Additionally, it is sometimes called Saint Anthony's laurel. With pale pink petals and dark pink sepals, the 'Stahl Rose' variety of Chamaenerion angustifolium is a vigorous, upright, and spreading perennial, blooming from mid-summer to early autumn.
